Navigating the Diagnosis and Care of Hydronephrosis: Where Are You in Your Journey?

Hello everyone! 👋

Welcome to our new group, a dedicated community for urologists, nephrologists, radiologists, researchers, and patients to discuss the complexities of hydronephrosis. This is a vital space for sharing insights on diagnosis, treatment, and long-term care for a condition that affects both children and adults. I'm excited to learn and share with all of you.

To kick us off, I’d love to hear your story:

What’s your current goal or challenge related to hydronephrosis?

Maybe you're a clinician trying to refine your diagnostic protocol for early detection.

Or you're a parent navigating treatment options for your child's congenital condition.

Perhaps you're a researcher investigating new biomarkers for predicting renal damage.

What is one diagnostic tool, treatment strategy, or clinical case you're passionate about right now?

Whether it's the use of advanced ultrasound techniques to track progression, a new surgical approach for ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO), or a unique case study that changed your understanding of the condition, we’d love to know what gets you excited!

Here’s mine to get the ball rolling:

"I'm a pediatric urologist who has been focused on the challenge of distinguishing between transient and significant hydronephrosis in infants. I've been experimenting with dynamic renal ultrasounds to more accurately predict which cases will resolve on their own versus those that require intervention. My next step is to explore how these findings correlate with long-term kidney function, so I'd love suggestions on resources or examples of successful long-term follow-up studies in this area."
